Sensei Mel Charlesworth (5th Dan)

 Sensei Melanie Charlesworth 5th Dan. Founder of Katsu Kai Karate Club, in Barnsley, will help out from time to time at our Thursday classes.

Sensei Mel has been practicing karate for 38 years. Mel started when she was 5 years old and received her 1st Dan black belt in 1996. Her background is in Wado Ryu and now Shukokai Karate. 

Current WUKF World Silver Medallist. Mel has won multiple World and European medals.

Sensei Mel has a wide knowledge of Kata, Application and Kumite. She has done an incredible job with the inclusive members of the AKA Squad and those at Katsu Kai Karate club. 

Her nickname 'knick-a-point-Mel' makes her a valued team member for the Ladies Senior Kumite Team and we can always rely on her to Knick those points for us! A valued coach of AKA Great Britain, Sensei Mel is always at hand to give advice.
